Campus History
Since opening its doors in 1978, Glen Cove Elementary has been a cornerstone of the J.M. Hanks High School feeder pattern, dedicated to nurturing young minds and fostering a love of learning. Today, Glen Cove proudly serves around 550 students annually, offering a rich educational experience for children in PPCD, SSC1, SSC2, SSC3, Pre-K, and Kindergarten through 5th grade.

Our diverse student body is predominantly from Hispanic households, creating a vibrant and inclusive community where cultural heritage is celebrated. At Glen Cove, parents and teachers collaborate to provide an exceptional learning environment where every child can thrive.

Guided by the inspiring leadership of Principal Mrs. Margie Mendoza and supported by our dedicated Assistant Principals, Mrs. Crystal Salom and Mrs. Laura Burdett, Glen Cove Elementary continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of its students.

Academic Performance
Glen Cove Elementary proudly stands as a beacon of academic achievement, earning an "A" rating from the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and garnering 5 prestigious TEA distinctions. As a National Title I School and a National Blue Ribbon School, Glen Cove is recognized for its unwavering commitment to excellence.

Our accolades include honors from the Texas Business and Educators Coalition and multiple recognitions as an Exemplary Campus by the Texas Education Agency. We are especially proud to be named one of the Top 10 schools in the entire state of Texas—a testament to the dedication of our students, staff, and community.

HIGH-PERFORMING SCHOOL
Glen Cove Elementary is proud to be recognized by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) as a High-Performing Title I Reward School—a testament to our commitment to excellence.

Through the YISD Engage Me 1:1 initiative, every student receives a Chromebook, opening doors to innovative learning and fostering a love for technology-driven education. But the learning doesn’t stop when the bell rings!

Our STARS shine even brighter through a variety of after-school clubs, where they can explore their passions, develop new skills, and grow beyond the classroom. At Glen Cove, we inspire a love of learning that lasts a lifetime!

* The GlenBotz Robotic Club - Our GlenBotz Robotic Team currently competes at the elementary level. It is also a participant in the city-wide competition held for all El Paso schools. Through robotics competitions, and other projects, our students further develop their interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM)
* Jump Rope Club - Our Jump Rope Club promotes cardiovascular health and gross motor skills for students from first to fifth grade.

* Flag Football - Our Flag Football Club promotes cardiovascular health and gross motor skills for students from first to fifth grade.

* Volleyball Club - Our volleyball club promotes cardiovascular health and gross motor skills for students from first to fifth grade.

* Kindness Club - Kindness Club provides students opportunities to show kindness towards themselves, others, and the community.  They believe in the power of sprinkling kindness wherever they go with the mission of inspiring others to do the same.

* Starlettes Cheerleading Club - Our Starlets Cheerleading Club promotes cardiovascular health and gross motor skills for students from 3rd-5th grade. In our cheer club, students learn cheers, dance choreography, and the importance of teamwork.

* Ballet Club - Our Ballet Club promotes cardiovascular health and gross motor skills for students from Kinder- 2nd grade. In our cheer club, students learn cheers, dance choreography, and the importance of teamwork.

* Archery Club - Archery Club provides a safe environment and an opportunity for students to learn the basics of archery, learn about range safety, and proper shooting technique, while encouraging focus, increased self-confidence, and team-building skills.

* Band/Orchestra - Our Band/ Orchestra serves as an important musical link between the elementary and high school years by providing a unique educational experience in which students gain not only musical skills and a lifelong appreciation of music, but have the opportunity to develop individual skills that will help them to be successful throughout their lives.
