Points of Pride
Wildcat Pride
Presa Elementary School, the home of the Wildcats, is a Pre-Kinder – 5th-grade school located three blocks from the historic Ysleta Mission in El Paso, Texas. We offer: “A Place to Learn, A Place to Grow” as our motto states. We are a small, family-oriented school where all members of our faculty promote academic development and social-emotional support to all of our students.
Students have a sense of pride in being a "Wildcat." Presa Elementary is a community where respect, dignity, high academic expectations and a sense of belonging prevail in all we do. Our faculty and staff work diligently to ensure that students are the number one priority in reaching high academic standards and educating the whole child.
Presa is the only school in the region that has a planetarium, and we are only one of four schools that have a "Small Lab" that promotes full kinesthetic student engagement in math, reading and science!
Campus Activities and Clubs: Our campus offers a full range of activities during the school day: Gifted and Talented classes, fifth grade student Leadership, and Wellness Wednesdays, which promotes family health and wellbeing. We offer Band, Orchestra, and Art classes to designated grade levels. We provide each student in Pre-K through 5th grade with their own personal Chromebook on site, in order for us to develop 21st Century learners.
We have student performances at Christmas time and Mother's Day. We conduct an end-of-year talent show, regular school dances and participate in the Jump Rope for Heart. We have a Tech Club, a Robotics Team, eSports and we participate in District UIL events, District Creative Writing, Storytelling, Oral Reading and the city Spelling Bee.
Social Emotional Learning: At Presa, we teach the Kindness in the Classroom Curriculum (KiC) offered by the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation. It is a lesson-based approach to Social Emotional Learning (SEL) that is taught weekly by our Classroom Teachers. It is a Tier 1 evidence-based social emotional learning curriculum designed to create a culture of kindness.
Each unit teaches six core kindness concepts: Respect, Caring, Inclusiveness, Integrity, Responsibility and Courage.
We believe that what kids learn in the classroom matters wherever they are, including at home. The KiC curriculum was inspired by the idea that we all have the capacity for kindness and all of us can inspire and empower each other to change the world through our actions.
We encourage parents to engage with their students, as well as teachers and counselors, on the KiC curriculum to share in the growth of kindness in our society. Therefore, creating a ripple effect of kindness.
Our Mission Statement: Teachers will have high expectations and provide quality instruction while creating genuine relationships with their students.
