Ysleta Independent School District is proud to announce that Hanks High School junior Alyssa Herrera has been selected as one of only eight students nationwide to participate in the Harvard Scholars-in-Training Summer Program. Alyssa, an outstanding student, is actively involved in various activities, including the Early College High School program, Varsity Cheer Team, DECA Organization, Science Fair Regional Qualifier, and Varsity Orchestra. This exceptional opportunity marks a significant milestone in her journey toward achieving her ambitious post-secondary goals.
The Harvard Classics Scholars-in-Training Program offers scholarships to distinguished high school and college students, providing an immersive experience in Ancient Greek, Latin, and Ancient Roman history and culture. From June 23 to August 8, 2025, Alyssa will join fellow scholars at the Harvard Summer School, where she will take courses for college credit, become an official Harvard student, and engage in activities designed to hone valuable research skills.
This scholarship covers course fees, room and board, and provides a stipend, ensuring participants can focus entirely on their studies. Alyssa's selection is a testament to her dedication, hard work, and the diversity and resilience she brings to our community.
Ysleta ISD congratulates Alyssa on this outstanding achievement, and we look forward to seeing the impact this experience will have on her academic and personal growth.
