For the third consecutive year, the Ysleta Independent School District is the highest-performing in the region, earning a score of 86 (B+) for overall academic performance in 2023-24 and an 89 for college & career readiness, according to annual testing data from the Texas Education Agency (TEA).
In addition, the data shows nearly 80 percent – or 38 campuses – at Ysleta ISD earned either “A” or “B” ratings for their educational programs last year in three domains: Student Achievement, School Progress, and Closing the Gaps.
Although TEA is currently facing a lawsuit that prohibits it from officially releasing this year’s A-F accountability ratings, school districts have the capacity and TEA authorization to calculate and self-report their performance – including letter grades – to their communities.
“Congratulations to all of our high-performing campuses for once again making us the highest-rated school district in the region for the third year in a row,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Xavier De La Torre.
“Our stability, success, and statewide reputation as a preeminent school system in El Paso didn’t happen by accident. It requires a multitude of strategic efforts, from our time-tested instructional framework and curriculum to the hard work of our dedicated faculty, staff, and administrators,” Dr. De La Torre said.
“Thanks to our small, supportive, and safe learning environments, our teachers and principals are able to focus on what they do best: Teach and inspire the leaders of the next generation,” he added.
Overall, Ysleta ISD has 18 “A”-rated schools; 20 “B”-rated campuses; five “C”-rated schools; and two “D”-rated campuses.
