The veterinary Science pathway will help prepare students for a career as a veterinarian or veterinary technician. Veterinarians care for the health of animals and work to improve public health. They diagnose, treat, and research medical conditions and diseases of pets, livestock, and other animals. The courses available at YHS will help students gain the knowledge and skills needed to succeed and continue their education in the field of veterinary medicine.

The median annual wage for veterinarians is $89,000. Salaries can range from 52,000 - 160,000 annually. Employment of veterinarians is projected to grow 18% by 226, much faster than the average for all occupations.

Veterinary Medicine has advanced considerably. Today's veterinarians are able to offer many services that are comparable to healthcare for humans, including more complicated procedures such as cancer treatments and kidney transplants. It is the goal of the Ysleta High School Veteriary Program to provide students four years of valuable training and experiences to help them apply to competitive veterinary schools.
