Testing Tips

1

Take Both Tests

Take the SAT and ACT.

To better understand how you perform on the SAT and ACT, take both exams to determine which format makes you more comfortable and then retake the test. Contact your high school Go Center specialist for more information.

2

Join a Study Group

Study groups strengthen the content matter.

Consider joining an ACT/SAT study group at school or forming one with friends.

3

Free Testing

Contact your high school Go Center specialist for more information.

You can take two SATs, two ACTs, and four SAT Subject tests for free if you have free or reduced lunch or you are part of a college access program like TRIO/AVID. Additionally, the fee waiver covers the optional essay section of the ACT/SAT if you want to or need to take it.

4

Forward the Results

Provide a list of the schools you are interested in.

List the colleges to which you wish to have your test scores forwarded when you register for the test.

5

ID Match

Match ticket with your ID.

Make sure your admission ticket matches your picture ID and print it.

6

Practice

Practice, practice, practice!

You might be able to find practice books and test prep at your school or local library.

7

Admission Check

Check which test is preferred or required by the college/university of your choice.

You should check if SAT Subject Tests and writing portions of the SAT/ACT are required or strongly recommended for admissions into schools like Ivy League schools.
