Rosana has one of the toughest jobs working with all of our coaches and sponsors to be sure we are following rules and guidelines at a huge campus that carries a huge volume of work. She is super conscientious about the time demands teachers face and does everything she can to give us one less thing to think about. She is professional and a delight to work with!
At Ysleta HS, we had a medical incident with a student. Bus drivers Marina Valencia and Diana Moya and their matrons, Alvina Escajeda and Sally Chavez, all helped me with the student emergency, along with teachers Ms. Atkins, Mr. Torres, and Nurse Almodovar. They were ready to lend a hand and I really appreciate them! They did not hesitate to help and stayed until things were cleared up. Thank you all for your help. It truly takes a village and I just want to thank you all!!! Kudos to them!!

There was an incident where a staff member was choking during lunch. When I initiated the Heimlich maneuver, Mr. Mena, without hesitation, came to assist me. His promptness and strength helped save our friend's life.
Ms. Castaneda is my co-captain. She is an asset at our campus. Our students and staff benefit from being around her. Her professionalism and sweet disposition build rapport with students and staff. She has a caring heart and does not shy away from work.
Mrs. Gomez is an excellent teacher and she goes above and beyond for her students. She has done amazing things for my two kids who had the privilege of having her as their 2nd-grade teacher. Ms. Gomez helped my daughter with an issue that I had been trying to solve for almost 3 years. She cares about her students' well-being as well as their grades. She truly changed a student's life.

Ms. Merritt is practically the first person at the school every day and is always there for both her students and her fellow staff. I would like to recognize Mrs.Powers for the amazing job she has done not only with our oldest child but with our second child. My kids love attending her classroom. They feel comfortable with her, understand the material in the classroom, love their teacher, and are happy to go to school every day excited about what they will learn next.

Sonia is always willing to jump in and help wherever she’s needed and does it with a smile. As the campus Interventionist, her students are always a priority and goes above and beyond. She holds small student groups as early as 7 a.m. to provide the extra support they need.
Dulce is such an integral part of our department. She cares about everything. She is always available to support all of the clerks, specialists, and the coordinators. She is always a few steps ahead of us and keeps our department moving.

Mr. Aaron Gomez was at Del Valle HS where he noticed a secured perimeter wrought iron gate where students were able to pull the gate handle and the gate would open. Thus, identifying a safety breach. Mr. Gomez took the time to document the safety issue and alerted Operations. Mr. Gomez's attention to detail and taking the time to bring this concern to Operations is a true reflection of his character and attentiveness to safety. Angelica Chavez completely educates students. She provides supplementals & tools to assist them in becoming more independent learners. As a dance coach, she encourages her dancers to attend tutoring with her when needed. She prepares them for big halftime shows at UTEP or parades. We can ALWAYS count on her to lend a hand or step up and lead!
Patsy is the secretary for Mentoring & Teacher Quality. She hit the ground running in this new role. She is kind, professional, and thoughtful. She actively participates in all BTIM Program meetings and ensures all mentees & mentors have what they need!
Lidia Rincon is a very hard worker and always goes the extra mile for everyone each day. Her organization and direction help us all accomplish our daily duties. Due to construction at Del Valle High School, the theater is unavailable. DVHS Theater is using the amphitheater at Fine Arts which has no lighting system. Mrs. Castaneda, along with her husband and daughter (YWLA student), not only lend them a system, but worked with DVHS directors and students to set up and train the DVHS students how to use it.
Mrs. Michele Garcia has gone above and beyond as an Instructional Specialist to support all high schools, but she has truly helped me as a new Instructional RLA Coach. She is always helpful and knowledgeable.
In the past couple of months, I have seen Rosie Castillo go above and beyond her role as our secretary, especially after High School and College Career Readiness merged together as one department. I had a family emergency which ended up with me having to take a week off and giving her a 30-minute training. She helped our dual credit students with their textbooks and digital resources. I am extremely grateful for the support and teamwork Rosie provided! She still continues to assist my coworkers in their training sessions and daily office routines. She deserves to be recognized for going outside her comfort level and doing it all with a great attitude and smile. Thank you Rosie for all your help and support!
Tanie is such a wonderful person inside and out and gives her all every day. She is always willing to do anything to help her students or coworkers and she does it with a great big smile. Ms. Victoria Valles is incredibly good with her music therapy sessions! She involves all of my severely disabled students and composes songs on the spot with their names and makes each student feel special. She's so good that it feels like she came out of a YouTube kid's channel!

The North Star Library is a warm and welcoming place, all thanks to Mrs. Flores. She not only engages students but also makes sure to include faculty, staff, as well as the community in her fun activities and events. Our campus is lucky to have her as our librarian!
