House Bill 5
The 83rd Regular Session of the Legislature passed HB 5 and became effective with the Governor’s signature in June 2013. This bill codified changes to the Texas Education Code (TEC) in a number of areas including curriculum, accountability, assessment, and accreditation.
Endorsement Program
CTE programs are aligned with Texas state standards including Achieve Texas programs of study and the House Bill 5 endorsements.
CTE content is aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant technical knowledge and skills. CTE curriculum is designed to prepare students for further education and careers in current or emerging professions. CTE allows to students the opportunity to earn endorsements, distinguished level of achievement, performance acknowledgments, dual credit, articulated credit, and industry certifications. Although not all career pathways are housed under the Career and Technical Education; CTE provides many of our youth with a true outlook on their possible career choices.
House Bill 5 endorsements are Arts and Humanities, Business and Industry, Multi-Disciplinary, Public Services and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
